First step to install windows, need remove old windows and prepare openings in existing wall
Depending on what kind of window need to replace, it could be easier remove it, or from inside, or outside.
First step need remove all moldings around the windows inside, and trim or aluminum capping from outside all around. Take off the sliding or casement panels of windows. Remove the wood shims, cut screws maintaining the window frame toward wood studs.
Remove the window frame and clean all debris inside opening. Check again, that all parts of studs are in good condition and will be for next 30 years. Make sure that sill slope evenly to the exterior over the entire width of the opening. If necessary just adjust sill, or replace it. Cover the sill and studs with self-adhesive waterproof membrane. This membrane must cover the nailing strip for the vinyl extension of window. You opening is ready , lets place and install the new window.

Measure the window frame from corner to corner make sure, that is right size for this frame and windows yourself is equal and square. Install window into frame and level with wood or plastic shims at the bottom of the window and on the both sides from the inside, it is easy, isn't it?
Check the level of window regularly with level tool. Attach window into studs, both sides using self-tapping screws. Fill the space between window and wood stud with isolation foam. Just make sure, use the right proportions of the foam, otherwise window will be squeezed and loosing operation mode of opening. Wait until foam is dry out, using instruction of foam. The window in home now proper installed, next step need make finishing inside and outside of window.
